On March 1^st, John Eastwood, President of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), and his delegation visited Southwest Petroleum University (SWPU). SWPU President Guo Jianchun held talks with John Eastwood.

Guo Jianchun said that SEG has a wide influence around the globe, and SWPU has established a fine relationship with SEG. He hoped our university could expand cooperation channels with SEG, so as to provide learning and practice opportunities on the international stage for SWPU students and faculty, and thus contributing SWPU wisdom and strength to global earth science research.

John Eastwood appreciated the fruitful achievements of our university in the field of exploration geophysics science and technology. He expressed thanks for the outstanding contributions of SWPU to SEG development, and particularly applauded SWPU's efforts in promoting academic exchanges among Chinese exploration geophysicists and in pushing the discipline development. He stated that SEG will provide excellent services for SWPU students and faculty in the field of geophysics.

After the talk, John Eastwood delivered an academic report for SWPU students and faculty.

Huang Xuri, President of SEG China and Dean of School of Geoscience and Technology of SWPU, and Wu Jingyu, General Manager of SEG China, attended the talk.

SEG is one of the most influential academic organizations in the field of global exploration geophysics. Founded in 1930, SEG dedicated to promoting technological progress and innovation in geophysical exploration. It has gathered numerous experts and scholars from around the world who engaged in geophysical exploration, development, and related technical research.
